The health effects of 5G radiation are still being debated. However, one study has suggested a link between RF radiation and the development of cancers in male rats. The study was classified up until it was removed at the end of 2012 by Central Intelligence Agency, but it has proven that radiofrequency may be a cause of cancer for animals and even humans. Researchers were exposed to male rodents for a period of 15 days. They discovered that they developed the same kinds of cancers that humans develop.

The power density of  5g radiation   is usually expressed in watts per square meters. Unlike the SAR measurement power density is a measure of the amount of electromagnetic energy that can be found in the space. The parameters for power density may differ for mobile devices and wearables according to their operating frequencies and distance.

Specific absorption
The Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) can be described as a parameter that measures the rate at which a certain frequency releases power into human tissues. In general, the SAR number should not exceed two watts per kilogram body mass. The SAR value is calculated from the electric field within tissues and the mass density, measured by kilograms of mass per cubic meter. It has recently been applied to the proposed antenna design.

The new radio technologies that comprise the network 5G operate on frequencies below 6 GHz. These frequencies are also known by the name millimeter wave. However, the FCC's SAR compliance protocol only applies to frequencies of up six GHz. Furthermore, the SAR test demands that measurements be conducted in phantoms containing tissue simulating medium.

Health effects on skin
At present, we are not aware of the impacts of 5G radiation in the body. The current knowledge is limited by the absence of experiments in vivo and theoretic models. However, there is an urgent need for further research on the impacts of 5G radio frequency radiation on human skin. The use of 5G radio frequencies could cause skin damage particularly to the epidermis, an extremely sensitive organ.
